Ode to License Management

IntuiLab has invested significant time and resources into our license server. It permits us to create a fairly mature license management system supporting both subscription and perpetual licenses, online account management for our customers and even our Management Console solution for automating the deployment of experiences to remote PCs. It’s the most impressive part of our business that gets little to no promotion.

Ok, it gets a little bit of promotion in articles like this one where we get to pat our own back but I can assure you, finding a system that is robust, immune to cheating and flexible for countless known and unpredictable circumstances is extremely difficult to pull off.

Imagine the dance. Without license management there is no IntuiLab. It is how we enforce transparent use of our software to ensure payment for use. On the other hand, this management has to be as hands-free and invisible as possible to avoid inconveniencing and frustrating the user - but not too invisible as the customer needs to manage their license inventory. It is a very tricky balance.

For a customer, licensing is a necessary evil. For companies it is the life blood, an unsung enabler that oils the machinery delivering software to desktops everywhere. Heck, I’d call it a differentiator for IntuiLab.

Jealous of our licensing technology? Ok, maybe not ….. not yet!
