IntuiLab releases IntuiFace Maps, the most natural way to collaborate around maps!
IntuiLab introduces the first solution to create and deploy truly multi-user and multitouch map-based applications.
Toulouse, France – May 10th, 2010. IntuiLab, the global leader in surface computing software applications, today announced the availability of IntuiFace Maps, the first highly configurable, Surface Computing-based, collaborative software platform for visualizing, manipulating, creating, and sharing geo-information layered on top of maps. Applications built using IntuiFace Maps dramatically increase the efficiency of teams involved in collaboration, supervision, or emergency situations.
IntuiFace Maps consists in three components:
- IntuiFace Maps Client for enabling several users to collaborate around shared rich maps on the same or across multiple Surface Computers including Microsoft® Surface® and many available and upcoming Win7-enabled multitouch devices;
- IntuiFace Maps Collaboration Server for the notification, synchronization, and sharing of geo-information between IntuiFace Maps Clients distributed across surface computers;
- IntuiFace Maps Composer for configuring, without programming, IntuiFace Maps Clients and create great map-based end-user multitouch experiences.
IntuiFace Maps 1.0 main capabilities are:
- What You Touch Is What You Get authoring tool that accelerates the assembling of IntuiFace Maps views and layers with sources available from a wide variety of GIS platforms such as ESRI® ArcGIS®;
- Dynamic creation and sharing of 360°views;
- Multiple views on the same surface computer for true multi-user usage;
- Communication and synchronization between views;
- Show/hide/filter of geo-information layers inside a view;
- Map manipulation using natural gestures;
- Can be deployed on a wide variety of multitouch devices from 12” up to 60’’ (and more) in size, whether horizontal (table), reclined (kiosk) or vertical (wall).
IntuiFace Maps addresses the needs of various kinds of users (from GIS software developers to supervising agents) in numerous areas such as Defense and Intelligence (i.e. mission planning or battlefield management), Government, Public Safety (i.e. Emergency/Disaster Management, Homeland Security or Wildfire Management), Transportation, Utilities, and Natural Resources. And for many purposes and tasks such as supervision, brainstorming, diagnostics, analysis, planning, training, or marketing.
This solution is a world’s first: it is indeed the first time that a product entirely dedicated to multi-user collaboration around geographical information, through multitouch interaction is released on the market. “Maps and geo-based data are one of the most natural fields for multitouch-based collaboration between users. We identified this in our early R&D days and we put a lot of our experience and know-how in this very first and promising release of IntuiFace Maps”, said Vincent Encontre, CEO, IntuiLab. “Following the release of IntuiFace Presentation earlier this year, IntuiFace Maps represents a new milestone in our strategy to deliver surface computing-based products for key markets”.
